thoughts

attempt 1.0

caitlin disregarded the whole check with a toothpick thing and took the bread out after 1 hour and put it on a cooking rack. at that point, megan noticed the loaf was dripping. in an attempt to pick it up (reason--temporary insanity), caitlin broke the loaf more. the bread was reconstructed in the pan as best as possible and placed in the oven for another 20 minutes.

attempt 1.5

the toothpick and knife came out clean this time. the edges are, admittedly, crispy, but that was the case when it came out the first time. we've decided, since the bits we tasted earlier were quite good, that we'd just pick around the not-so-well done parts. all in all, not a successful cooking experience, but since human error is most likely responsible, we'll be trying this again.
